NOVY SVET “SELECTED AMBIENT WORKS, VOL. III” Third and final volume in Reue um Reue's selection of Novy Svet's lost and found ambient works. All tracks previously unreleased, strictly limited edition with cover art by Pierre Citron. 1997EV “SUBSIRKUS SINUS LILLE VEGA” Composed back in 2007, „SUBSIRKUS SINUS LILLE VEGA“ was originally conceived as a direct follow-up to 1997EV’s first long player “Dead Ends Sinful” (Punch Records, 2006). But somehow the release never took place, and the album remained hidden to the world – to this day. Each of 1997EV’s work has a personality and a colour of its own, and if “Subsirkus…” is as psychedelic as any of the Sardinian project’s records ever were, it also has a far more lysergic-acid-folk feel, with loads of acoustic guitars, wah-wah effects, delay worship, some Nicoesque harmonium and of course the typical spaced-out lyrics. What better way to wait for the band’s brand new album (out later this year on RuR) than to take an acid trip down memory lane? WETTERLÄUTEN “WETTERLÄUTEN” There were times, blessed times when man had not yet lost the sense of his connection to both Nature and the Sacred, when church bells used to be heard across the countryside to banish approaching storms from hamlets and villages. In our Teutonic regions, this was called “Wetterläuten” – the “chiming away” of bad weather. Anyone who ever had the privilege of experiencing the ecstatic and all-embracing live improvisations of WERNER CEE (e-chin / lapsteel guitar / electronics), NORBERT GROSSMAN (synth / church organ) and EVA KORN (gongs), will understand why the South-German trio choose this archaic name for their project. WETTERLÄUTEN’s atmospheric manipulations range from dreamy sunset drones to heavy pre-storm electricity to apocalyptic orchestral deluge, penetrating and bringing into motion the very cosmic fabric around them. Their unmistakable sound owes much to their unusual instrumentation, especially the combination of e-chin (an electric version of the ancestral Chinese Guqin zither) and live electronics, and of course Eva’s virtuosic gong playing. Understanding themselves more as a musical concept than a band, WETTERLÄUTEN regularly involve other musicians, especially Norwegian guitarist ALF TERJE HANA and drummer MICHAEL HOFMANN. Reue um Reue is excessively proud to present their first ever official release. Welcome in the eye of the cyclone. MADR ER MOLDAR AUKI vs. SCHNEE Split Both SCHNEE and M.E.M.A. are side-projects of the Italian Black Metal act ENSOMHET 777 (aka Riccardo Z.), whom some of you will know from the excellent tape released some years ago on Licht und Stahl. While retaining the folk and atmospheric elements already present in E777, M.E.M.A. leaves behind all the standard "metal" parts like drums and distorted guitars to focus on warm tohmetian soundscapes, mixing them with Cylobian IDM to unique effect. SCHNEE, in itself the follow-up to M.E.M.A., is at the same time colder and more personal (the first track, a requiem for Riccardo’s beloved dog Koki, is a masterpiece of icy, lonely sadness), but does come back to distorted guitars in the end with the black-gaze eponymous last track. This split is the final epitaph of both projects, and the perfect companion for the dark winter evenings of outside coldness and inner warmth…. Or is it the other way round? Verweise
